The client is the expert of their life. Therefore, the client determines their goals and sets the overall agenda of the coaching sessions.

A professional coach is an expert in the coaching process. They utilize multiple tools, techniques, perspectives, and skills to assist the client in the change process and challenge them to reach new levels.
Coaching assists clients in realizing their full potential which often results in the ability to achieve goals previously thought unattainable.
Coaches believe in and support their clients, recognizing that only the client and God intimately understands the past, present and future desires of their heart.
Professional coaches respect the rights and privacy of their clients. They often belong to professional organizations which require adherence to a code of conduct which often includes maintaining confidentiality within the confines of the law. Clients should specifically inquire with their coach about their confidentially policies.
Coaching is a relationship between equals. The formality or informality of the relationship, setting, and process will vary among coaches. As in any relationship mutual trust and communication are integral components.
